We recommend hand washing to preserve the gold rim. **Q: How thin are these tea cups?** A: The tea cups are cute and lovely but two of mine were broken when they arrived and the bummer is, you can’t just return the two... you have to return all in hopes the next batch won’t be broken. It’s not an easy return:( otherwise cups are cute and wash well in dishwasher so far or with soap and water 👍🏼 **Q: Dessert plates to match?** A: Yes. Amazon has the matching dessert plates. I did not purchase any dessert plates. **Q: Is it dishwasher safe and microwave safe?** A: I tend to wash these by hand, although my daughter has placed them on the top shelf a couple of times in the dishwasher. I was excited when they arrived and opened the box to see them. Inside the box it was a disaster. Three cups of the six were broken and one saucer was chipped. The packing of the box the cups and saucers were in was horrible, the dividers were flimsy and unprotective though I feel this was from the manufacturer in China not the seller although the seller should have checked the box before sending. The seller had packed the shipping box well. The quality of the cups was not as expected. They were smaller than expected with tight handles. These items were returned for a refund.
