And there are 5 reasons I keep buying these. 1. They are leather (the cotton ones are always very slippery) 2. When you break them in, they feel great. 3. They hold a grip on the bar you can feel and control. 4. They hold up very well to heavy weight. 5. With enough use, they get a patina that I dig. ;-) I happened to look back at my orders, and I bought the last two pairs almost a year apart from each other. But I used them A LOT in all fairness for every year (4-5 times a week). I know there are some people that complain,... but come on,...nothing last forever. Yes after a LONG time of use, they start to bunch up at the wrist but it doesn't affect performance, and it doesn't mess with your comfort, or get in the way. Just what happens with leather that is constantly moving and having intense pressure in a specific shape and direction. After a year, it does start to tear at the high friction spot. But again...AFTER A YEAR, and it doesn't just snap on ya or anything. You'll see it coming from a mile away. I had a tear in the last one, and with the double stitching, it held up for one last go with some heavy weights. So for me they are safe. Regardless. They are worth the money even though I have gone through three pairs. How to care and condition the leather on these straps?** A: WORST mistake is put these in with your other cloths during a wash. You will have a very big (and depending on how much your other cloths cost) a BIG and expensive surprise. Basically it is unsealed dyed leather. So if you wash them they bleed...and bleed and bleed... its the hemophiliac of weight straps. If you have to wash them, I've done them in a sink with some powdered detergent and a scrub brush and then rinse and let them out to dry. Don't worry if you see a lot of red... just get the soap off. It's probably not a good idea to rinse until you think it will go clear and stop bleeding. Again, just the soap and paper towel dry and set it on something you don't mind getting stained red. **Q: Is this real leather, or synthetic?** A: It is durahide real leather. I love these straps! The leather works great when wrapping the straps around bars. I use these often for dead lifts. They do not slip like my old black ridged straps that would cut into my skin and take some skin off. **Q: Would these work to help me with pull up grip too?** A: I would stick with the cotton ones for the Pulls ups. My strap were 2 years old before I decided to change β€˜em out. Usually deadlifting lifting around 405lbs for sets with them once a week.
