Every time I put her in a car she whines and hyperventilates the entire time, and Feliway does little to help. My vet mentioned that she calms down with a towel over her face, and it gave me the idea to purchase this muzzle. After letting her play with it & gradually getting her accustomed to wearing it by bribing her with treats over the course of a couple days, it works better than I expected. Medium was a bit big on her so she can pull it off with moderate effort, but she tolerates it well enough to mostly leave it alone. In the car she hyperventilates far less, and the vet said that with it on she was much more patient with the process & they'd like to get some for the office. I was even able to bathe her with it on without her raking or biting me in an attempt to escape, although she whined just as much. If you take the time to get them accustomed to it, this muzzle can work miracles.

I tried using a towel or wash cloth over her face, but she always managed to get out from under them. The mask stayed secure and bathing her was so much easier, with no bodily injury to myself. **Q: My cat had eye surgery and hates the cone.  Is this a good alternative to protect the incisions?  If so - what size for a 7 pound young cat?**
A: I would say no because the cat is essentially blind while wearing this because it is multiple layers. It seems comfortable and could be helpful to use when it helps the cat be calmer without seeing what is going on, such as for baths, treating wounds, or clipping nails, so it might be good to keep on hand, but for long-term wearing, it wouldn't be a good option. For size, see the chart and measure. It goes by the size of the cat, not the weight. Maybe try a soft cone or an inflatable "donut".

**Q: Is this fabric flimsy, or does it have a lining?**
A: It is well made and not flimsy. Fabric is soft on the inside

**Q: What are the head measurements for each size muzzle?**
A: I'm unable to give you the dimensions but I can say that these run extremely small. I had to return mine because it was so small and I didn't want to take the chance on ordering the next size up and having to return that as well.

**Q: How do I know what size?**
A: My cat is an average size cat, I ordered a size medium muzzle. There was plenty of strap left to fit a bigger cat from my experience. I hope this helps.

I’ve used this for my feral cat. It’s like a horse mask. If they can’t see, they stress less. Unfortunate I have to take one star off because this doesn’t stay on. You need to constantly have someone holding it while you groom your cat.
