I bought this one because it was the least expensive one on desertcart and had the best warranty. The Kitbest Scanner was extremely easy to use & you can't even plug it in the wrong way. They give you a QR code to scan so that you can install one of the apps that it works with. All you have to do from there is pair it with the Bluetooth on your phone and touch the Diagnostic button and in a few seconds it tells you what the code means. A quick trip to the auto parts store to purchase a new gas cap, in my case, and the guy at the auto parts store said I might have to drive it for a while for the car's computer to recognize the new gas cap but it worked by the time I got home from running errands and it let me reset the check engine light. I tried it with all three free apps that they mentioned in the tiniest instruction manual you've ever seen. The Bluetooth on the scanner linked up quickly with all three apps and I discovered there are a lot of things that you can see about your engine, transmission, cooling system, fuel consumption, etc. You can look at more gauges than you ever knew existed, improve your mileage, use it as a trip computer, see a color coded map of your trip that shows your speed in various legs of the trip, it will even tell you your altitude and how much of an angle you're driving on to prevent rolling over while off-roading. So all-in-all it solved my problem with the check engine light and it's a great little gadget that provides fun exploring all the things it can do and even with the paid app I think I'm still way ahead of what it would have cost to take the car to the mechanic and I'm having fun playing with it. With steam coming off my head I ordered this with 2 day shipping. Fortunately I did not have to take the vehicle on the road before the scanner arrived. When it arrived, I had already downloaded several apps on my android and was ready to give it a shot, even though I was sure that the information would be miles over my head. I was wrong, between the apps and this little wonder I found that it was a temporary warning due to a single misfire on cylinder 5. I consulted a mechanic friend and he says that happens with new cars and goes away. Then he asked me how I figured out that symptom. I told him and he said "Pretty cool, most people panic and bring it in to the shop" I drove it to work the next day and sure enough the light went out.I plugged the scanner in again and it showed that the alert had indeed been reset. Since then I have learned all kind of interesting things about my truck. Immediate MPG as opposed to measurements over time and distance. I can tell how my drive train is distributing the load across the wheels as the conditions change, I can see how my braking system works under different conditions, even how my transmission shifts under different types of driving.
