It has a zipper on the side for easy access and slides in/out of the case easily. To assemble it, you just hold on the top and toss the rest of it away from you then pull the knob and it will tighten all the sections. Then to release it you pinch the two plastic wings and it will release so that you can pull apart the sections and store it again. It is pretty intuitive. Seems strong (it's aluminum). And at 270 it's a good length for most snowpacks. *** Cons *** I would say the only main con is that it is more expensive than the absolute cheapest on the market. It is nowhere near the most expensive, and overall a good price for how nice it is. So overall no real cons. It's a good price. Great probe. I might even buy a second one.
