Every stroke: it's length, downward pressure, angle, and speed all factor into your line quality and it's been a fun experiment. The ink flows so well and I never had to worry about it. I was expecting a harder shaft to the pen, but after priming it, I understood why, and even applaud how it's made me change my grip on my tools. The visual design won't win any awards, but it does its job ~perfectly~ and that's all we can really ask for right? Shockingly light to hold and doesn't slide in the fingers as much as I expected. How is the red band removed to allow the usage of this pen-brush?** A: Another tip. When the ink runs out you can twist off the handle and remove it's top cap (the seal is in it). When taking it off the cap it will be connected to a straw (actually two with one inside of the other) . Leave this alone and take the handle and fill it with your own favorite ink. Place straw and cap back on and screw the brush on and get back to work. I go through about one or two of these every year or two before it clogs up. **Q: How do you use this pen , I'm a bit confused since I never got one before I tried shaking it but that didn't help😰** A: I was also confused when I first got the pen ^^;! I ended up squeezing the long black plastic part of the brush to get the ink into the bristles and that worked, but I'm not sure that's the correct way to get the ink into the brush. Be careful not to over-flood the bristles! Also, the first few brush strokes are a little watery :). Hope this is helpful to you! **Q: Hi which refill is used with this one?** A: The regular Pentel pocket brush refills **Q: How do you clean this or what do you do when you finish up writing/drawing with it? I don't want the ink to dry out. Newbie here.** A: Put the lid back on tightly much like you would a marker. You don't clean it, nor do you clean to change colors. if you want a different color, you buy a new pen with the desired color ink in the barrel - though I do keep pretty empty ones, and keep the lid on tightly to keep brush supple, and dip them in my own ink.
