These small bright flashlights eat batteries. Each battery only lasts 40-45 minutes; tops. Alkaline AAA start out brighter because they are at ~1.60 volts DC. Rechargeable AAA batteries start out at ~ 1.42 to 1.45 volts DC depending on your charger. Difference in runtime is noticeable, but negligible. These lights are not meant as a main light for more than 30 minutes. They are primarily for intermittent use. The cheaper ThruNite Ti2 will NOT work with rechargeable AAA batteries. **Q: Header description says i4e, detailed description says i3e. why the difference?** A: Hi dear customer, the correct name is "I3E", not "I4E".
