## Description

Perlite is expanded mineral media used for the horticulture, hydroponics and gardening. Perlite is used in potting soil mixes because it modifies the structure of soil and improves aeration by keeping it loose and preventing compaction. A potting mix containing one part garden loam, one part peat moss and one part perlite is excellent for containers because it holds just the right amount of water and oxygen. Perlite is also an excellent rooting medium for cuttings. Roots formed in perlite are much stronger than those formed in water because perlite allows oxygen to reach the roots as they develop, enabling the roots to adapt more readily to a soil environment. In horticultural applications, perlite is used as a component of soilless growing mixes as it provides aeration and optimum moisture retention for superior plant growth. For root cuttings, 100% perlite is used. Studies have shown that outstanding yields are achieved with perlite hydroponic systems. Other benefits of horticultural perlite are its neutral ph. and the fact that it is sterile and weed-free. In addition, its light weight makes it ideal for use in container growing.

    Bag arrived damaged.

The bag arrived severely damaged, wrapped like a mummy, with God knows how much perlite lost in the process. Extremely disappointed. At least I am glad I ordered only on bag, to see how it works, before ordering more. I will never order from this supplier again. It looks like they use very thin, poor quality paper wrap for these bags. My mistake for ordering a product that had no reviews. See attached photos and judge for yourselves!
