I just want spherical holes (to hold a marble)?** A: Absolutely! I use them in my plunge router to make stopped fluting. **Q: Can I lower my board onto this type of bit, instead of starting it at the end of the board?..Will it try to kick all over the place, since it's round** A: Yes, you can plunge cut with these bits. The cutters meet in the center and are designed as plunging bits. Just a little tip, it may burn slightly in the initial plunge area because the spinning cutter is hanging around the same spot in the wood for too long. Gave me a variety to use. I would purchase again. I have used three of them so far. They are great when they are sharp. They do stay sharp for a while. On bigger projects you will either need a couple or a way to sharpen. They don’t stay sharpe forever. And these are a 1/4” shank. If anything goes wrong while routing you will most likely bend the shank and it’s a dead bit. Happened to me. It would be best if you were using a 1/2” shank. My router is not a 1/2” shank. Not sure I can find the part to change it as it’s a older dewalt plunge router. Just beware of the limitations. I had read that 1/4” shank bits for this use you were taking chances.Obviously I was not paid nor do I receive any benefits writing theses reviews.
