## Description

Sleeper, fronted by singer-songwriter Louise Wener, hit the charts in 1995 on the wave of Britpop, delivering three top 10 albums over the four years and a succession of 8 hit singles Inbetweener was their second single, but charting at number 16 in January 1995, it was the one that brought them to the fore. Further top 20 singles What Do I Do Now, Sale Of The Century, Nice Guy Eddie and Statuesque showed Wener to be an acutely observant and perceptive lyricist, with a band that had a knack for knocking out punchy, melodic indie-rock. This 2CD set includes all the singles, fan favourites, and a handful of live versions showing Sleeper at their very best

Oi! Sleeper! Reform now! *** Stop Press: looks like they did! ***

*by Y***E on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 17, 2017*

Superb collection of some of their greatest songs, plus, by my calculations, 14 non-album tracks, which makes this an essential purchase even if you already have all three of the original albums. And conversely, Sleeper released very little filler, so if you love this collection you're sure to find value in getting the albums too. According to the sleeve notes, a combination of in-fighting, in-shagging, and a poor reception for the third album (which in fact is at least as good as either of the previous two) led to the split-up. I say resume the fighting, shagging, and making of great music as soon as possible, please!EDIT: From Wikipedia: "On 14 February 2017 it was announced Sleeper had reformed to tour alongside some other notable Britpop acts, such as Space, Dodgy and The Bluetones, under the Star Shaped Festival appearing at four cities." So it looks like they heard my call. Despite the fact my review was written three days after this announcement, I'm taking all the credit. After further listening alongside the original albums, I'm pretty well convinced that the version of Nice Guy Eddie on this compilation is not the same as the album version. It *may* be the same as the single version, but I don't know because I never had the single. If anyone can cast some light on this for me I'd be grateful. Such mysteries keep me awake at night.

Who do you get? 2 tracks of great guitar pop songs!

*by J***M on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 8, 2017*

This collection of songs by Sleeper is a must listen if you are new to the band or just want a collection of songs by them.A double disc, it has a lot of b sides and rarer songs which are hard to get hold of.To me Sleeper are kind of underated in a big way. They are different from Echobelly and Elastica, they have a more easy going optimistic vibe to their music.A much more pop music vibe. Its definitely an interesting collection of songs and well worth hearing.Pleased to meet you, is their masterpiece, yet it was considered a bit of a failure, but that is not true at all, it is actually a really good album. To bad it was their last one, and add on "What do I get" and "Come On Come On" to it and its just as good if not better than the others.

    Double CD of greatest hits

*by S***R on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 13, 2018*

This is a double album with 34 tracks including 5 live tracks.it features all their hits plus Atomic, ost from Trainspotting. It complimented the tour when I bought the CD. Absolutely love it and can't stop playing it. My favourite album for a long time.
