The shelf moves very easily out of the way--nothing shabby or flabby. It is solid and doesn't move around while I'm using the key board. The problem is the pre-assembled clamping mechanism has no indication of which is up, which is down, and which end to connect to what. The instructions are terrible. It took three people to figure it out and hold it up to attach it. It's a CLAMP!!! Assemble the entire thing and then attach it by twisting the opening wider or smaller would be the best way to approach it. It is in place and works great.
