Pretty cool. Mine works well and looks nice. I have it on a table in the living room and the overhead fan lights are enough to make it turn. Interestingly, I tried lighting the globe from the side, and the globe would rotate in one direction for about a half turn, and then rotate in the other direction a half turn. With the overhead lighting, it rotates in one direction.

This is a great globe with the blue oceans making it an object of art. Placed in a book shelf area with overhead light which keeps it turning. Great conversational piece too.

I was mistake the wrong size was medium it’s look too small I made mistake the size to size its look too small earth solar I thought I want it medium it’s look perfect … I saw it cost too high price I made mistake the wrong size from medium to small look it’s okay .. Overall, I like it and enjoy watching it spin. I've bought several as gifts and finally broke down and got one for myself. However... I'm rather disappointed with the map quality. If you look at the equator, the white print abruptly stops at many places right along the equator making it look like two mismatched prints... very obvious and looks cheap. I'm considering returning it and getting a different model.

I first saw this at a resort hotel gift shop while on vacation and was instantly amazed. No batteries, just ambient light and earth's magnetic field. It rotates as if by magic. There isn't anything like it. Got the 4.5 inch size to not be too big on the piano. Wanted to put on left side of piano but wouldn't rotate. Moved to right side just 2 ft away and it worked. Magnetic fields can be distorted due to hvac ductwork, plumbing or metal lines and large appliances. It doesn't take much light to make it spin. The stand is minimal and I recommend removing the bottom brown protective tape to keep the stand looking clear. There are several versions but the relief map version shows surface texture like mountains and looked better in the gift shop than pictures online. I mounted a chrome led dimmable light from Amazon (see my review elsewhere) to make it spin in the evening when no sunlight is present. See picture. It may be pricey but there is nothing like it and just looks cool spinning on its own everyday.

Der Globus ist pünktlich und gut verpackt bei mir eingetroffen. Dekorativ und faszinierend zugleich: eine sehr ansprechende Gestaltung in Kombination mit der Rotationsfunktion ganz ohne Batterie oder Netzteil. Globus dreht sich auch bei wenig Licht in Innenräumen. Absolut geräuschlos. Klare Kaufempfehlung für alle, die einen außergewöhnlichen Globus suchen. Für mein Empfinden aber kein Kinderspielzeug: der Globus ist überraschend schwer, wirkt stabil/robust verarbeitet, sollte aber sicher nicht fallengelassen werden.
