Review: It works! - I volunteered to make some buttons for our Parent Teacher Club so I scoured the web for a reasonably priced button maker that would also function well enough. This is one of the lower priced units, plus it came with supplies to make 100 buttons. After reading the 1-star reviews, I was fully prepared to have troubles operating it, but the first one I attempted came out perfectly. Everything set, and the end result was great. I went on to make 10 total, and out of that, 2 failed. I’m certain it was user-error, but I’m not 100% sure what I did wrong. I did notice the metal backing sometimes stick together, and dropping them on the table allowed them to separate. It very well could be that the first one I made had two metal backings but I didn’t know it. It could also be that I simply didn’t press hard enough. Either way, a loss of 2 out of 10 was acceptable to me, given this is the first time I’ve ever used a button making machine. I would say it takes some practice to get the right feel. I’m currently trying to figure out how to align the pin correctly as it seems no matter how hard I try, it ends up crooked. Good thing I have supplies for 90 more buttons to perfect my process.

**Q: Photo paper work?**
A: Yes-most any paper will work…

**Q: Do you need a special printer?**
A: No. I used my regular HP printer and regular printer paper. I’ve also used magazine pictures, and pictures from those daily desk calendars. If you’re designing your own buttons to print, it’s helpful to have a program for that. You can find those online.

**Q: I keep having trouble getting the back pin to align correctly at the top even after following instruction booklet. How can I fix this??**
A: I noticed the same thing where the pin gets rotated slightly when is raised into the top mold. I started placing the design sheet over the pin front in the first mold so that it was turned about 10-15 degrees clockwise and they turn out pretty straight after the back is attached. If I need it to be precise, I will mark the rim of front mold every 1/4-1/2” or so with a fine tip sharpie to determine the best positioning for a specific design.

**Q: Is there a computer program to use with this button maker?**
A: Not that I'm aware. I am a graphic designer - I use Adobe Illustrator to create the designs

I volunteered to make some buttons for our Parent Teacher Club so I scoured the web for a reasonably priced button maker that would also function well enough. This is one of the lower priced units, plus it came with supplies to make 100 buttons. After reading the 1-star reviews, I was fully prepared to have troubles operating it, but the first one I attempted came out perfectly. Everything set, and the end result was great. I went on to make 10 total, and out of that, 2 failed. I’m certain it was user-error, but I’m not 100% sure what I did wrong. I love this thing! I am a crafty gal! My son needed buttons to pass out as fair king, so we decided to try this thing. Everyone loved the first batch we made. He has a big event coming up this weekend and I easily made 60 buttons while watching television. It is so easy and fun to use. The buttons seem to be a good quality. I did mess up a couple, but they are not terrible and could still be worn. We are looking forward to making a variety of buttons for different functions.
