Been in use with LED and motion sensor for six months and I'm comfortable leaving it plugged in when away from home.  I repeatedly have touched it and the temperature IMHO is safe, I used a thermal camera on it and it read 71 degrees F, the wall read 68F, outside temp 28F, family room temp 64F.  The wall temp may be result of heat radiated from unit.Update Apr 2017, still no issues and running since Oct 2015 I just ordered 2 more tonight
