It had real ivory keys on it that were in terrible condition. Many were missing and many more were chipped. Not only did they look terrible the chipped ones made the piano difficult to play.This new set came with all the keys needed to replace every white key on the piano. To do so I removed every key from the piano. Therefore it is not a quick simple job.These come "cast" together and must be carefully "snapped" apart. This makes getting the correct cover on the correct key easy but it also requires you to smooth the casting flash from the sides of the cover. I did this after the cover was glued to the key. After the glue dried I used a power sander to gently sand the covers to remove that flash and fit it nicely to the key.Overall the job took about a week plugging away a couple of hours a night. And to put this on, takes much more work than necessary. Each octave of white keys come attached at the side as you see in the picture. Breaking them apart is simple but then once you break them apart you need to sand them down. Once you sand them down, you will then need to trim the white keys just below the black key. Other wise the black key will be pressed each time you press the white key. If you are looking for a project that will take hours upon hours upon hours in hopes that it will still look decent, I would not recommend these keys.
