Avantone has an amazing sound! Ive put it up against some high end tube mics, high end audio technica and high end shure mics, Avantone has topped them in quality. Delivery was super fast and great. I needed the mic for a session i had in a few days, did the 2 day shipping and delivery was on time and in great shape. No harsh highs but it’s not dark sounding. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A solid multi-pattern condenser mic at a great price, excels as drum overheads *by J***E on June 2, 2015* i recently realized I needed more multi-pattern mics for my commercial recording studio. A pair of akg c414s is not in the cards right now due to cost, but the avantones ck7s were well reviewed and attractively priced, so I pulled the trigger. They sound great on acoustic guitar (slightly brighter and slightly tighter in the mids than my go-to acc gtr mics - shure sm-81s). As drum overheads they pick up toms and snare quite nicely. The multi-pattern feature (omni, cardioid and figure 8) really comes in handy for minimizing bleed in multi-mic setups and interesting stereo techniques. All this at less than $300. Can't go wrong there.Update:Having worked with the mics for almost a year, I found their niche: drum overheads. Toms and snare have more body and depth than the usual overhead condensers with great stereo imaging.
