Light gray housing and mechanism differs slightly. Dont depend on these remaining taut from the time you first snug them down. I used these to secure the bow and stern of my kayaks under towing conditions and ended up losing one of the tie downs from slipping in the mechanism. Be sure to stop after a short time to assure they remain snug and always check them in the middle of a trip.
