This tool is a lifesaver for any adjustments. We are wrapping up a renovation, so installing new pre hung doors and matching hinges. It takes maybe three minutes per door to dial in the new hinges, if needed. It also is not restricted by tight spaces (in corners and such). It is also quite durable, no issues and no complaints. 10/10 would recommend.

I used the Fastcap Knuckle Bender on a heavy exterior metal door with fairly large hinges and it worked for me. The door was overlapping the jam at the top by at least an 1/8th of an inch. To get it to close you had to either slam it very hard or lift it by the handle when closing it but even then it was binding at the top. I never thought I could fix the problem myself, I was sure it was a job for an experienced carpenter or door hanger. But by chance I came across a YouTube video showing how to "adjust hinges" on doors that wouldn't close properly using a crescent wrench. One video led to another which led to one using the Knuckle Bender. Now I have crescent wrenches but truthfully they could have been anywhere in the house, the basement, the garage, etc. and I just didn't feel up to looking for them so I ordered the Knuckle Bender if only because it was a tool specifically designed for the job and at a reasonable price. I read the negative reviews here but there were a number of positive ones too so with some trepidation I set off to try and fix my door problem. I knocked out the hinge pin and carefully used the tool to bend back the "knuckles" or "barrels" on the hinge half that was attached to the door. I only bent them a little each time out of caution, it took several sessions until I got the door to close without a problem. I guess I could have done it with a crescent wrench but the Knuckle Bender worked nicely so I recommend using it instead of a crescent wrench. Some notes- First of all, do not open the door while adjusting the knuckles except as noted below. Second- In my case the pin on the tool used to knock out the hinge pin worked with only moderate success. About 2/3 of the way out the base of the pin on the tool wedged into the door. Any further hammering would have only wedged the tool base further into the door. At that point I simply put the business end of the tool against the top of the hinge pin and adjusted it to close around the lip of the pin and hammered against the tool driving the pin up and out. It was a minor and easily solvable problem. Third- Remember that once you bend the hinge knuckles attached to the door they will no longer line up with the hinge knuckles attached to the jamb and the hinge pin will no longer slip down through both sets of knuckles. You could try shimming the door up until the knuckles line up. That did not work in my case so I had to carefully open the door and maneuver it until the knuckles lined up. Doors can be heavy, be ready to support it once you open it.

I've read the reviews on here and I'll sum it up this way... this is a shortcut that could potentially save a LOT of extra work. It won't work in every situation and it wont last if you overwork it on commercial applications. But it's great for a handyman or painter to have for the occasional tweak. These people writing these negative reviews expect a whole lot out of a one-off tool. The alternative to which is a lot more steps, time, effort, energy and attention. Or you can go buy the other ones you've been looking at on here but didn't know which mm sizes to buy because you didn't want to buy them all but you were too lazy to actually research or measure which size you really did need. Sooo... get this one, save time, save money and enjoy it when it works.

The idea is great, and the tool is easy to use. Compared to the other methods of fixing a door that is out of alignment this one is much easier and faster. Unfortunately there are some quality problems with the tool. First, the wrench itself is very cheaply made. Made of poor quality steel - it is easy to bend and break, I have had three of them now - so its not just a quality control problem - it is a lack of overall quality problem. Pull too hard and you will bend the bottom (thin) part of the jaw - rendering the tool useless. The adjustment thumb wheel "kind of" works when new, and if used hard will just jamb. The storage for the hinge pin removal tool is a nice idea, but poorly executed. There is a magnet in a plastic part to hold the hinge pin removal tool in place. Unfortunately the magnet is free to move - and moves into a position that prevents the hinge pin removal tool from being able to be inserted back into the hole. If they started out with a better quality wrench and improved the hinge pin removal tool storage system they would have a nice, useful tool. Of course this would cost a little more, but to me it would be worth it - better than having to buy multiples to have one that works. As it is, it "kind of" works.

What a fantastic tool. It has a good heft to it with a nice build quality. The alignment of some of my interior doors have always been off enough to be annoying each time I used them. Now the reveals are even and they close nice and tight. Just pop the hinge pins with the included push pin and use the tool to adjust the direction of the door hinge. Pros: Well built, fits around hinge tightly so it does not mar or score the hinge surface. Plenty of leverage to easily adjust the hinge sections. Convenient push pin for removing the hinge pins. Cons: Only one and perhaps a bit of a nit. The push pin is a bit loose in the nylon or plastic holder such that it can slide through. It would be helpful if it were more snug fit so it stays in the position you set it. Totally worth the money. I would buy again, but will never need to.

Works reallt well. We bought one for each trailer. Can do the adjustments when he hinge still attached to rhe door. Unless the trim is too close.

I should have took notice of the other review that it don’t work! .. £30 down the drain . It don’t grip on to the hinge and when I try and pull it back the door frame is in the way .

No complaints with this at all. I needed to adjust my door hinges, and this made it was easier than a screw driver and wrench. Doesn't feel premium at all, but it did exactly what I needed it to do. Nice addition to any toolbox.
