The celebrated Positive Discipline brand of parenting books presents the revised and updated third edition of their readable and practical guide to communicating boundaries to very young children and solving early discipline problems to set children up for success. Over the years millions of parents have used the amazingly effective strategies of Positive Discipline to raise happy, well-behaved, and successful children. Research has shown that the first three years in a child's life are a critical moment in their development, and that behavior patterns instilled during that time can have profound implications for the rest of a child's life. Hundreds of thousands of parents have already used the advice in Positive Discipline: The First Three Years to help set effective boundaries, forge strong foundations for healthy communication, and lay the groundwork for happy and respectful relationships with their young children. Now this classic title has been revised and updated to reflect the latest neuroscientific research and developments in positive discipline parenting techniques. Review: Comforting to Know Good Info - The book is good at giving everyday practical advice. I was at a loss at how to discipline my 2 year old. While I hear that 2 years may be too young to start disciplining, I could see my toddler getting out of hand if I didn't set some boundaries early on. I like that this book also gives you a perspective from the toddler's point of view that sometimes we, as parents, may forget. It makes you realize that sometimes the toddler is behaving the way he's supposed to, even though it might not align with what we think. There are a lot of good reminders that affect the outlook you may have as you grow to understand you child. I appreciated those reminders and if I can pick up a few tips and good advice, it's also worth reading and investing the time. Review: i love this book - book is amazing! it teaches you about positive discipline and how to use it. there's also sources from studies and statistics about how other forms of punishment effect a child in a negative manner like yelling and hitting. the book is amazing. the book also provides example and scenarios that are relatable to what parents face from their children and the appropriate way to handle the situation. before being a mom i was big on no hitting and no screaming because my mom did it alot and it hurt me in the long term. i want my children to grow in to confident, empathetic, and self sufficient adults. i STRONGLY recommend this book!

Helpful content
Definitely helpful especially for the first time moms. It mentioned all the common baby behaviors and how to handle it. Still trying to put in to practice. But good suggestions.

informative but need more examples
I like the idea of positive discipline and being kind but firm, the book is easy to read and quite informative, and while it's full of examples I felt I need more real life situations, with what to expect in terms of then children's possible reactions to being "kind but firm", possible escalation. My child is only 14 months so I haven't experience tantrums and stubbornness yet but I think the book portrays positive discipline as an easily implementable miracle solution !

I enjoyed reading it and liked the advice
I really enjoyed that read, I felt I learnt a lot of useful information. It is quite redundant - it repeats a lot of statements and information, and also gets a tad too "inspired" in the chapter about nature, but overall, if you can look past this - and it's worth to! - you can learn a LOT of very useful facts about child's early development and some good advice worth, at least, considering. I recommend it.

you may love this book or it may just be too out ...
I have been reading a bunch of parenting books regarding toddler discipline and this one resonates the most, with all ideas and beliefs in alignment with what I have been implementing with my 18 month old son. I feel it is an approach that will help to develop a healthy solar plexus chakra for the children as they grow up. So its all about preference, you may love this book or it may just be too out there and vague. However there are plenty of useful info for just about everyone with a child. I personally love this book and will come back to it again when i need guidance

A useful book!
I bought it once for myself and now I bought it as present. Really good book, giving useful tips on how to help kids build confidence and discipline and how grown ups can react during tantrums.

Low production quality
The overall production quality of the book is somewhat disappointing. The binding and cover feel quite flimsy and do not seem very durable. Great content.

Amazing book! It addresses the most pressing issues
Amazing book! It addresses the most pressing issues: emotional meltdowns (yours and your toddler's), power struggles and defiance. It also gives you great advice as to how to organize your child's routine, so it would minimize the level of stress for all of you. The book draws on research and practical experience of the authors, but it it is not at all boring. I would definitely recommend it to all new moms.
