The packaging and shipping were great. The loom does come unassembled but looking on YouTube on Ashford's video list - they have a great demo and explanation. The .25 deduction? Ashford also has a video on their channel - titled - "Before you assemble your SampleIt loom....watch this" - Yeah, really would have been nice to find that video before I assembled mine - luckily had prepped my wood. The wood is unfinished so heads up. The printed material accompanying the loom is minimal and not sufficient to assemble. Definitely check out their YouTube. This was my exploration into weaving and I'm hooked. The size is perfect for small projects such as scarves but if I were to purchase one now. I would go for the 15 inch. Also, I'm quite happy with the ratcheting system (sorry if that's not the correct term) - your brake and winding system essentially. Additionally, already built into the loom, is the ability to add a second reed without any additional framing. (Not so on other "intro" looms) Bottom line, well made lovely product and I will be happily getting many, many years use from it. Enjoy! It comes with a 7.5. **Q: If you could only buy one which would you get the sampler or the knitter loom?** A: There is a bit of a price difference between the SampleIt and the Knitter's Loom. The Knitters Loom folds and is lacquered. The SampleIt is unfinished and does not fold. The SampleIt Loom comes in 10 and 16 inch weaving widths. The Knitter's Loom comes in 12, 20, and 28 inch weaving widths. If you are looking for a wider weaving width the the Knitter's Loom or even the standard Ashford Rigid Heddle Looms would be the best option. The Standard Rigid Heddle comes in 16, 24, 32, and 48 inch weaving width. If I was a beginning weaver I probably would choose the 16 inch SampleIt. They are now made out of a very nice NZ Beech wood that is very hard and looks great. This harder wood is great for the SampleIt looms and is an improvement over the NZ Silver Beech that was the previous wood. **Q: Is there a stand for this loom?** A: One does come separate (https://www.ashford.co.nz/products/product/sampleit-loom-stand) but I don't know if Amazon has it. **Q: The image for this product shows three looms of different widths. It is not easy for me to find products that are suitable locally. I realize that the product comes unassembled for shipping costs, but I would have paid more to have it finished and assembled. Arthritic hands found some of the assembly processes difficult. The instructions were fair but could have been more detailed. This is big for me because I am a beginning weaver and there are no other weavers around me that can help when things are confusing. I enjoy this loom tremendously, but wish I had purchased a wider one or one that folds.
