New rings are round and don’t leak when compressed . Use silicone grease liberally on the threads the facing surfaces and both front and back collar contact surfaces , I use oil filter pliers gently to grip and tighten salt cell grooved collar nuts in place and wiggle cell gently side to side as I turn the last turn to get a good seal with no leaks .
