I can only get 1 of the 4 ports to work at any given time. It doesnt mater what port I plug in 1 works other no** A: The additional 3 ethernet ports are reserved for port aggregation, which is currently not supported on the CM1150V. I guess you would call them reserved for future use. The CM1150V does not include built in router. Most ISPs, like Xfinity only provide a single IP address with your service, so you would not be able to get multiple computer or other network devices to work without a router connected your modem. What you would need to do is connect a router to one of the ports on the CM1150V, then connect your devices to the router. **Q: Will this work with optimum** A: Hands down, the most I’ve laughed reading answers to a simple question.. and anyone looking to save themselves a couple of hours of researching between Reddit/ forums; yes this modem is actually one of your safest bets with optimum. In short, where you live is what determines how optimum delivers that Internet to you and if you’re like me getting it over coax and fiber (“gigabit passive” I think? You can tell by if your plan is a big number over a much smaller number i.e ‘1000mbps download /50mbps upload’) it’s a very annoying / complicated way to deliver those speeds, or at least for those who just want a simple reliable upgrade to optimum’s turd modem, and this one of all seems to be the least problematic across the board. If you end up getting this and it just doesn’t happen to work well in your area, don’t worry… I’ll save you the time and let you know that as an optimum user your best three future-proof modems come down to this one (Netgear cm1000, 1100, or cm1200), the arris sb8200 (tried it and didn’t work for me), or the Motorola mb8600. And since I’m trying to be as informative as possible and answer the majority of questions that eventually come after the main one, you should know that before you rule out a model actually working for your Internet setup, you WILL get a lot of optimum representative on the phone who should but don’t necessarily know or maybe have all the info to properly push the RIGHT settings to your modem. I don’t mean any disrespect to them by that because it is complex stuff, but for your own mental health and time, if the person you’re speaking with seems unsure or struggling a lot to help you, or even worse lie to you and tell you it can only work with their equipment, just Bring that call to a close as fast as you can and try again with somebody else. try to get on the phone with a representative who seems pretty confident in what they’re doing and sound more familiar with what you’re trying to accomplish. If all else fails, you could simply have a defective device or just try a different one mentioned above.. it’s a lot I’ve said to answer what we all thought was supposed to be a very simple yes or no question but at least you just have to get it right once. I’m no expert and anyone please feel free to correct me but it’s what I’ve best been able to gather over the past week and it’s our home Internet we’re talking about here. (Definitely not going back to fax) Optimum’s is just inconveniently a pain but not many of us get to choose. You can then attach a switch to either the Wifi Router or the Cable Modem. If you attach it to the cable modem your wired LAN will be a different network. I previously had a modem that was giving me issues. I was paying for 800 megs, but wasn't only getting 5-40 depending on the day. I tried different methods of troubleshooting, and determined it was from the modem. I then purchased this modem renewed which worked flawlessly for a few months. It was also time for an upgrade, so I figured why not. After a few months, I started experiencing the same issues as my last modem... Slow speeds with nothing really helping. The speeds would be normal right after a reboot, but then dip low after a few minutes. I noticed this time that it happened after an outage, and thinking back that's when my previous one started becoming slow. I thought what the heck this must be an Xfinity issue, so I called Xfinity to remove this CM1200 from my account. I then re-added and... BAM. Everything back to normal. It has been working fine since. I'm hoping this helps someone who is experiencing the same issues with Xfinity.
