Kohler 965-AK-CP Purist® Single-function showerhead, 2.5 gpm, Polished Chrome

Easy to install and good product. I installed these in a locker room and my members love them.

I've had this shower head installed for about a year, replacing a similar looking (but less nice) Kohler Stillness showerhead. I was impressed by the force of the water from this unit -- it is low-flow, but it actually feels like a strong shower. The feeling of the water is pretty nice as each individual stream is broken up into droplets. So it is like a high-pressure rain shower. My only issue is that it seems to be pretty loud. I like to imagine it as the noise of a rainstorm falling on the roof of a tent (which is what it sounds like), but some people might find it distracting.

The first time I ordered one of these, I loved the full body spray pattern. It's really luxurious. However the water pressure when limited to 2.5gpm is not sufficient to provide a good shower given the fact that this thing has 72 sprays. There was no obvious way to remove the 2.5gpm flow restrictor, and when I called Kohler, they said it was fixed and couldn't be removed, so I sent it back. I then did some research, and figured out how to solve the problem. You can remove the water filter (metal gauze with black ring around it), then you will see the permanent water filter (a green disk). You can then take a power drill and drill through the green disk to create a free flow of water. Use a vacuum to make sure you get all the debris out to prevent it clogging the head. After this modification, I tried the shower head and the spray was stronger. The shower now was one of the best I have had, and certainly the strongest given the water pressure in most modern houses. After modification - this shower head delivers, a strong, luxurious and full body spray that will leave you satisfied. A great product, that requires small modfication due to our big brother government.

This is the most luxurious showerhead I've ever used. Tons of water. This flow rate is now illegal in my state so get it before it gets banned in yours too.

Many of the reviews mention the plastic feel of the shower head. I would have to agree that it doesn't "feel" super high quality when you take it out of the box. That knocks a star off for me. But I would say that you only take it out of the box once -- the rest of the time, since it's attached to a pipe or shower extender arm, you don't really "feel" the plastic nature of it unless you're thinking about it. Perhaps it will not last as long as I hope, given it's not metal, but we'll see. I attached it to a Danze 9-inch extender shower arm (which is great and high quality metal, by the way). I actually wonder if this shower head was built using metal (i.e. was much much heavier), if the extender arm would be able to maintain its elevated hold over the long term...could that be why Kohler built it to be so light??? Anyway, the shower head looks great, it works great and it's easy to install. The spray performance was exactly what I was looking for. I don't like "rain" showers -- feeling water just fall without pressure has never satisfied me in the shower (too soft)...but I don't like stinging shower pressure either. This feels right in the middle. We have what I would call average to slightly above average water pressure. This shower head translates that into a nice, pressurized spray, much more pressure than rain (but somehow the air-infused spray still feels silky like rain), but not a hard jetted spray either. The pattern of the spray doesn't spread out too widely either. This was important for me as some showers spread so quickly that only a few jets actually reach my much shorter children enough to actually shower them. Even three or four feet away from the shower head (where my children's heads reach), I think the spray is still around a 10 inch diameter, which in my opinion, is good coverage (not too wide and not too small). Wow, I wrote much more than I thought I would.

LOVE this new shower head. It's as easy to install as any other, and it puts out a perfect spray of water. I think I can even tell the difference, with how they describe that it adds a little bit of air to the water to make the drops of water being sprayed, but either way I really love how the cascade of water feels while showering. I would highly recommend it.

We installed this shower head with a longer, 7 1/2 inch shower arm. This allowed for a better position of the shower head to be used by people with significant height differences. It was used in a bath reno for a home we sold. Since we had well water with a lot of white mineral deposits, white vinegar in a zip lock bag was used overnight. The next morning, it was completely restored with no caustic chemicals and no scrubbing to mar the finish. We have purchased 2 more in the chrome finish for our new home. Now that we have better water pressure from a public water source, the shower head produces an even more enjoyable shower.

Broke after 3 months of use. Now amazon says it is beyond the return policy. What type of crap is that.Save yourself some aggravation and buy stuff like this from Home Depot, Lowes, ACE Hardware or a local supply house.

From the second you break the metallic seal on the box and open it to a fabric wrapped and reveal your new chrome shower head you'll be struck with amazement at the quality of this product. I live in a trailer home and was concerned it might effect the water pressure compared to my other low flow. It was actually better. It gives a nice spread, more droplets then a steady stream, which gives it a very nice feel. I also read that it "allows the droplets to retain 30% more heat" didn't think much of it at the time but I had a drastic reduction on how hot I needed to have the shower by about 20%. I don't need multiple settings. Just a shower head that work and this performs quite admirably.

I replaced my current shower head with this one as reviewers said it increased the water pressure. It did in my case as well, and looks sharp. I installed it in minutes and I’m very pleased with it.

I purchased it to replace a multi function Delta shower head in our walk in shower. It is a well constructed and provides a nice gentle shower that gives the sense of pulsating water due to the introduced air. Even though we have a low water pressure of about 40 psi, the flow is great for fast rinsing. I would recommend this to anyone for a larger shower.
