I looked it up and apparently there are enzymes or something of the sort that makes it lighten your hair. I'm pretty impressed to say the least. But like I said. The only thing I would change would be either there is silicone inside of it or waxes that will get on there after a few shampoos and you definitely feel it. Sticks to itself and that's the real hard part to describe, also tangles more after about the 4th wash straight. So, the clarifying shampoo is just a nice sidekick to this brand.
