Is it rated for high winds?** A: It holds up pretty well and has withstood very high winds here in Arizona. I did have to oil the unit so it would continue to spin. you'll like it because it really works. **Q: what is the range or field of its effect?** A: I have to be honest but it dose not keep the birds from flying over the boat and pooping on it. It does just keep the from landing on the boat **Q: If mounted on roof, would it keep birds out of nearby trees?** A: It might help some, I use them on my boat, and the birds stay away from say 12 ft radius . so you can judge how far from all parts of the tree you will be. I have had better luck with LED C7 Christmas Strobe lights. especially where the birds come in at night time around dusk to spend the night. a 2 hr run of the strobe keeps them away all night. **Q: Does this help keep woodpeckers away? Thinking to install at the top of tall chimney. Forget Ultra Sonic... Our birds are already deaf... I have tried everything imaginable except shooting them, but the airport frowns on Firearms. This item actually works. it has been now been months since my plane has been targeted... The Planes close to me have not been bombarded either! I purchased a second and put on the other side of the plane... The wind ALWAYS blows at my airport, so that is not an issue... Good Ridden to the Birds! I did not want to drill into airport structure and I may want to move it some what to keep the birds off balance... I used small C-Clamps that I got from Lowes and that works great. Note the images and Video! - After using for sometime now, About 6 months, it has greatly helped... But when there isn't much wind/breeze they tend to show up anyway... I now have 2 of them... Add 1 and problem returned... Going to take one down to see if 2 was just too much. Follow up on this.. With the 2nd one installed (1 on the each side of the plane)...
