In the movie, no one understands what John Figg is going through. The people around him show they care in their own way, but not really in the way he needs them to. This - along with John's unrelenting personality - leads to his downward spiral. All the events in my life, both good and bad, have lead me to this - THE INSOMNIAC. I am exceptionally proud of this film, and of all the hard work put in by the cast and crew. They were all Godsends, and I couldn't imagine myself making a movie without these guys in my corner. And, frankly, it s easy to see why... The Insomniac is a carefully crafted and finely-tuned crime thriller. Certainly, like many greener indie features, it misses some steps -- some of the performances are wooden, and some overwrought; and, as a result, from time to time, the dialog suffers. But the story always recovers, and I was unable to shake off the desire to see what was to come next -- what the next extreme measure would be, and who would suffer because of it. This is one of the hallmarks of good writing... that despite misfires in performance, the story s hooks never come loose. This is obviously a testament to both Salazar and Peter Kenneth Jones, who wrote a drum-tight script. People vastly overrating a movie to the maximum number of stars because they have a personal attachment to the film is ruining the rating systems that have been reliable for many years. Not the worst movie but not the best either, I saw only 2 stars. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wonderfully entertaining *by C***2 on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on November 10, 2016* John Figg (Eddy Salazar) thought his world was pretty cushy. A recent work promotion, a loving girlfriend. The only bummer has been the recent death of his beloved father. Now he has moved into his dad's house to settle the estate. Soon afterwards his car is stolen and a few days later this house is broken into. In a believable turn of character, he turns into an extremely paranoid, edgy guy. He purchases a gun and turns into an insomniac suspicious about nearly everyone. I read where Eddy Salazar lost a lot of weight to portray this character. The make-up on him is outstanding and truly shows a crazed, tortured guy. The cinematography is outstanding, the cast amazing and the writing solid and suspenseful.
