**Q: Does this taste as good as bacon grease?**
A: My husband and I think it tastes better than bacon grease.  We have tried 3 of the flavors this company produced including bacon base.  It tastes every bit as good with none of the mess.  I think that makes it an excellent product.

**Q: Is it actually bacon grease?**
A: No, although when refrigerated, a visible layer (approximately 1/16-1/8") of solidified fat or grease rises to the top.  When used as directed, it makes a great cooking liquid for beans.  We've used it for green beans and most recently for pinto beans; both were terrific!

**Q: What is the nutritional information of this product?**
A: it's fat

**Q: Is this gluten free?**
A: the beef base is definitely gluten free, but the chicken does not have that same symbol on the jar.  These are the only two "flavors" that I use.  I love this base because the flavor is richer without just being salty.

I stir a teaspoon or so of bacon base into many homemade foods. For example, I dice potatoes into a frying pan, and steam them with a little water under a lid for a few minutes until they become tender. Once cooked, I will add a teaspoonful of bacon base, and give it a minute to disperse. Then I take off the lid, and add whatever fat or oil I choose, leftover bacon fat is ideal, and fry the doubly bacon seasoned potatoes. The result is extremely savory bacon flavored fried potatoes. I also like it in vegetables cooked with bacon such as kale. The uses of bacon base are limited only by your imagination.

Biggest waste of money I've experienced in years! This stuff does not, even remotely, taste or smell like bacon! It's totally inedible, and so salty, I felt my blood pressure rise after one bite. THE REVIEWS DO NOT LIE, except the few who thought it was okay. It should be illegal to market a product this awful.
