And how many?** A: Four double AA batteries **Q: Can kids rotate the planets themselves? Would that break the toy?** A: All planets are meant to rotate by the motor. Moving a planet rotates manually by moving the arm the planet is on. **Q: Has anyone had luck getting a missing part from the company? We put this this together just to find out that we are missing the mars arm support.** A: One of the arms snapped . I was able to replace the whole set within the return period.
