worked great. Tried it out Monday on a high pressure ...
They delivered on Sunday!! I thought they were setting themselves up for failure, I ordered late Friday night when I saw a promise to deliver Sunday. Got it before 11am Sunday, tested it on my heating system and a friends, worked great. Tried it out Monday on a high pressure dust collector fan, it ran at 8,500 cfm, worked like a charm. I will report back, I'm working on a system with collector, exhaust and recirculation back to building on same fan, so balancing the system will be a good test for the unit. I'll keep ya posted

Nice unit worth the price
This review is for the Holdpeak 846A anemometer. Arrived today and everything was in perfect condition. I've read reviews about the fan not spinning properly but in this case it spun easily, even as I lifted it out of the case. I guess it's all about QC and China hasn't gotten the word quite yet. I also read somewhere that you can't figure CFM with this but that's not true. You can figure CFM and the instructions that came with it explain how to do this. I looked for a minute or two for the arrow showing air direction and if I had read the instructions first, I would have saved a minute and seen that the airflow direction arrow is actually on the inside of the fan shroud on top. All in all I really like this unit. I'm going to use it to check the airflow on my ducts as I'm getting ready to replace my furnace and would like to dial in the airflow with my manometer and anemometer as closely as possible on both heating and cooling cycles. Hopefully it will last awhile before giving me any problems but time will tell.

Mounts to tripod easily and provides the data that I am looking for
Handheld anemometer works as expected! I purchased this unit to use for storm chasing and when on grass fire calls. Mounts to tripod easily and provides the data that I am looking for. The unit itself its a bit weird to turn on, you have to press and hold the power button till it comes on. I have another similar unit with no RH readout, it will turn on much quicker. The USB data logging only works with Windows 7, hopefully the software package gets updated. I was able to install the software on Windows 10 and had to manually download several additional files and register them with the OS, there was still a driver disconnect present. Again, hopefully this gets updated in the future! Overall I am very pleased with the purchase, it does everything I want it to except for the Windows 10 compatibility issue I noticed. Solid 4 stars!

Misleading Specs â Failed to Detect Airflow Well Above Stated Minimum
The stated specs are misleading. The manual says the minimum measurable airspeed is 78 ft/min, but in real use this unit failed to register airflow of about 128 ft/min that was measurable on a better anemometer. In other words, it could not reliably detect airflow that was well above its own advertised minimum range. That makes it pretty useless for low-flow HVAC / bathroom vent testing, which is exactly the kind of application where sensitivity at the low end matters most. Maybe itâs fine for stronger airflow, but if you need to measure subtle ventilation airflow, I would not trust this device.

Very nice unit
I bought this to measure output from all my forced air registers to balance the flow. This unit fully worked for my needs.

Can never have enough tools
Bought this to balance all my vents in the house. Easy to use and helped me discover how bad the flow was in my HVAC system.

Worked well...until
Seemed decent at first. Then I got a new turbo blower duster that hit 30 m/s before the fins completely shattered and went everywhere. I guess that means the turbo blower is good...but now no more reading wind speed!! If this is for natural wind outside, I'm sure it's great. Want to push it to its limit with powerful artificial wind? Not so great. Return window is closed, now I'm out the money I spent. Thats life

HoldPeak is much easier to work with than Pyle
I bought a HP-846A and one of the vanes broke off at around 70mph indicated wind speed. I emailed the company a picture of the broken vane and they immediately sent a replacement. Previously I owned a Pyle PMA90 Digital Anemometer and the same thing happened at around 60 mph indicated air speed. It took a bunch of forms and a couple months to get a replacement. I can't verify how accurate the instrument is since I don't have a calibrated instrument to compare it to but I will say that HoldPeak is a great company to work with. They are very customer oriented.

Accurate and well worth the investment ... quick to respond to any changes in wind velocity and offers a bit of comfort knowing the wind that is affecting your flying site đđť

We live in a very windy area of central BC, Canada with no official wind station to tell us the wind speeds, so we decided to do our own measurements. This anemometer works very well, is durable and is easy to use, with easy-to-follow instructions included. We especially like the separate hand-held velocity sensor (as apposed to the all-in-one type) as it is easier to watch the fluctuations of the readings. It measures temperature as well, and the hard-shell carrying case is a plus for protection during transport. We are still in the learning process but would recommend this product.
