What's not so often seen is real craftsmanship. This is a beautiful desk, with a flawless solid beech top and a heavy galvanized steel base. No particle board or flimsy chrome tubing here. This desk will outlast you!It takes about five minutes, using the tool provided with the desk, to adjust the height to suit you. Once it's adjusted, it's solid as a rock. It can be re-adjusted any time you like, but it's not motorized or hand cranked or any of that unnecessary nonsense. Realistically, once the desk is at your ideal height you only want it to stay there, which is exactly what this desk is built to do.I first used this desk a couple of years ago and have still not seen anything that matches it in quality or appearance.You have to decide if a standing desk is for you. As other reviewers (and the product description) have stated, this desk consists wholly of a thick, solid beech top and a set of metal legs that you assemble and adjust via two included hex keys. Embedded in the underside of the beech top are two metal strips that presumably keeping warping in check, and the cross-bracing on the legs prevent wobbling. I purchased this desk through the vendor's Etsy site and was immediately impressed with not just the craftsmanship, but also the care taken in packaging and preparing clear assembly instructions (which are a breeze: you'll just need two people to lift the desk top onto the assembled metal frame). I've been using the desk now for a good month with no complaints. Not only is it sturdy, functional, adjustable, and attractive, but it's made locally and without any engineered products like MDF.
