how does this sandal wear for a slightly wider/fatter foot? I've tried Teva Kateva thong but too tight on the straps...

These are great for my Flintstone feet. Another one that's good for wide feet is Sanuk. Also I normally wear a 9.5-10 shoe but for slippahs (flip flops) I need to get a size 11

I wear a size 10 and they are 11.5 inches or 29.2 cm measured from the bottom down the center line.

I often have to size up when buying sandals, especially for other surf brands like reef. should i size up with the ohana?

I have worn the Ohana for years and have purchased several pairs. I wear a 13D (almost always) in street and running shoes. A size 12M in the Olukai Ohana has always fit me best. I can't compare with other brands of sandals, except Adidas slides. Here I wear a 12 as well.

Are these comfortable for flat feet? Are they heavy?

I find them quite comfortable with just enough arch support for my moderately flat feet. Not too heavy either - heavier than the el cheapo's I've worn in the past, yes, but they provided no support at all and usually led to aching feet. The Olukai sandals work well for my feet.
