Review: GREAT Companion for 6-8 year old kids + Pop-A-Shot Buddy!!!! (for Dad) - Perfect toy companion for my son who loves robots, Legos and tech stuff. We took the MIP robot on a road trip and it was a blast playing with MIP in the hotel with my son. (much better than having everyone stare at their own screen). Since we can't go to Chuck E Cheese to play the Pop-A-Shot basketball game, it's pretty cool that you can play this with MIP. Having been a previous owner of MIP, this newest version fixes all the previous flaws (i.e. robot is pretty stable and difficult to tip over). The iOS pp was easy to install and worked right away. Best to use an iPad and make sure bluetooth is on but connection with iPad and MIP was super easy & simple. The MIP also has some brain games including a "SIMON" like Mattel memory game which brings back childhood memories. There were so many other apps and games but didn't have a chance to try them out. Will save them for a future road trip or occasion as we want him to enjoy his companion for a long time!

**Q: Does anybody else have an issue with high frequency noise coming from the robot?**
A: I agree with others - the manufacturer either doesn't understand what we're saying, or is severely downplaying this noise - it's definitely not a faint hum or buzz.  It's truly an attack on the senses, and I'm not exaggerating.  It's constant, from the moment it's turned on until the moment you can't take it and angrily turn it off.  These aren't motor sounds, this is electronic interference of some kind.  And it's LOUD.  Like, able to give me a slight headache from two rooms over loud. This may sound like hyperbole but it's truly that bad.  No other robot or electronic device we own makes a sound like this, not even close.  My son loves this toy, and somehow is able to ignore it, but I don't know how much longer I'll be able to take it.  I definitely won't be buying another WowWee electronic toy again after this one, especially if the manufacturer considers this "slight" and "normal".

A: Yes!  High pitched noise that drives me nuts.  So annoying I want it off!!

**Q: is the app required to opperate this robot?**
A: No, the app is not needed. I've already operated without the app!

Perfect toy companion for my son who loves robots, Legos and tech stuff. We took the MIP robot on a road trip and it was a blast playing with MIP in the hotel with my son.
