Review: Excellent scoby starter - This made it so easy to start making my own kombucha. After reading a ton of articles on how to make it, I decided to try this starter and let it form it's own pelicle and it worked perfectly! I'm now on my third batch (1 gallon), and have a scoby jar constantly going so I can make a new batch whenever I want: I just throw the pelicles in a gallon jar about half full of starter each time I am ready for a second ferment. The instructions are easy and clearly written, and my kombucha has tasted fantastic! If I ever end up needing another starter, I would 100% buy this again.

The bottles arrived, I opened the bag and placed each separately bagged bottle on the counter. Yes, the bottom of each bottle bulged, as expected. Good sign of healthy tea! And it smells very healthy!! I continuous brew in a large dispenser with a spigot. I used both bottles (16oz each) following the recipe for 1 bottle. I like to keep it strong while introducing different water, different sugar, new environment. In a week I’ll add the other gallon of sweet tea. Added a picture my brewing of vessel & one taken after 5 days; good healthy formation of the “scoby/mother” ph was 3.0. So I added the 2nd gallon of sweet tea. Happy brewing! Update 3 weeks later I’m now enjoying my fizzy sparkling brew fight from the tap! Thankful I found your product!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: If I only used half of the bottle, how can I save it for the next batch, or will it die?**
A: I keep mine in the fridge for 2 weeks. I make a full batch and only use 9 bottles. But I make one batch after the other and use the 2 week old starter tea. Seems to work for me.

**Q: Can I use this with soda stream?**
A: I don't know the answer to that question, but my bottle blew its cap off during shipping and there are no returns on this item, and I could even find a way to contact the seller for a replacement.

**Q: Can i grow ascoby with this starter tea?**
A: This is a great starter and you can grow a SCOBY with it.

**Q: Do you use ice packs to ship your starter in the Summer to avoid excessive fermentation that leads to higher acidity and pressure build up?**
A: The one I received didn't have an ice pack, first one didn't work, but the company sent me a replacement and everything was great

I have been brewing for years. Took a break while moving and purchased this starter. Bottle arrived bloated and misshapen. Not unexpected with fermentation. Brewed according to directions (which is the same recipe I’ve used in the past, too). Mold. My first batch of mold ever in my time brewing. Developed quickly too. Will have to go back to my original starter provider!
