Rocksmith - Learn Guitar & Bass (Cable sold separately)

I was freaked out when this installed as a demo but entering the activation key from the Steam client unlocked it. I'm wondering why the vendor was not up front with the information though. No mention of a demo in the description. If you like to play guitar, this game is a lot of fun. Thanks to the other reviewer who clearly described the process for entering the key to get the full version activated. I have not tried transferring the songs to the 2014 version. I could not find the transfer tool in the client software. Even if the content doesn't transfer, this is still a fantastic value, IF you've got a cable.

The original Rocksmith is a very good game, but I gave up on it quickly because I felt like I was forced down a path of learning specifc songs that I wasn't that interested in. Thankfully, I gave the series another try with Rocksmith 2014 which blows the original away. It's easily a 5-star game. I've picked up my guitar again and am playing about an hour a day and have seen significant improvement. There is a lot more freedom in how you approach the game in the 2014 edition. I did recently purchase this original game again, but only because I've moved from the Xbox 360 to my Mac and needed the original Rocksmith to use the "Disc Import Tool" to get the Rocksmith 1 songs (and, annoyingly, some of the DLC is only available with a Rocksmith 1 license). Fortunately I was able to find it from an Amazon Marketplace seller at a great price.

Bought this because i didn't want to do a monthly subscription with ubisoft's rocksmith+. I have a steam , and ubisoft account already so this was the way to go for me. It works fine. Make sure you have a steam account or plan on creating one. A ubisoft account isn't needed, i have been gaming for years so i already had one due to Rayman.

Rocksmith is great if you want to learn the correct way to play songs. The songs tend to skew more towards pop rock or lighter rock songs. I wish there were a few more heavier songs to round out the soundtrack. Other than that this is a must buy for anyone who enjoys playing guitar or bass and wants to learn new songs.

Bought this to add the songs to 2014, but as a learning tool for beginners I like the way this version is structured. Starts you out as an opening act with a short set which you rehearse until you are ready to play out live.As your skill improves the sets get longer the venues get bigger and the learning curve goes up. Much easier to navigate and learn scales and chords that pertain to the song you are currently playing as apposed to the general "lessons" of 2014. Maybe 2015 will re-incorporate this with the much improved sessions and side games of RS 2014. BTW Once you purchase this version it installs as a demo. You must download the game from STEAM and then use the Key Code from this version.

Cable is total crap!!! Worked ok when first installed the software and tested it, but has been very noisy since to the point that I've had no interest in even using it at all. I have a usb cable for my guitar that works great, but not with this Mickey Mouse GAME! You are forced to use their noisy cable instead of anything of much better quality... 1 Star is over rated here.

It wasn't clear that I was buying a demo version that then had to be upgraded on Steam (steampowered.com). After some hassle it did eventually work.

I love this game. Great teaching aid for me. Haven't played in a long time and this is making it so easy and fun for me to remember chords and technique. Bad part is it doesn't work with windows XP so i had to install it on my laptop. I'm going to try to log on to my account on my desktop and see what happens.
