As a stand alone, plugged into it's own phone socket, or if you don't have a spare phone socket, use as a pass through. Plug the flasher first then plug the phone into the flasher. The flasher gets it's power from the phone socket, can't remember if it uses batteries or not. **Q: Can this be used with ip voip phones? if so how do i hook it up?** A: VoIP phones are essentially land lines running over the internet. Just plug this into your VoIP modem and your phone into this and you’re good to go. **Q: does it work with digital system?** A: I believe it does. My friend has comcast service, if that is what you mean--it works great or also with a landline service.
