Do the landing pads move up and down?

The landing struts have springs so that the pads can move up and down depending on the weight of the 'vehicle.' They do not actually retract, if that is what you want to know. Note that the included struts are plastic. There is an add-on set with metal engine bells, that also includes aluminum replacement struts, which are more durable. I hope this is helpful.
