We bought the Mega Cyborg Hand for our 7 year old, and it has been such a fun and engaging project for our whole family. Building it together has been a great experience, though I would say a 7 year old definitely needs adult help and guidance for some of the steps. There are certain parts where an adult is required, but that actually made it a really enjoyable hands-on project to work on together. Our 10 year old also loves fiddling with it, which shows how well it spans multiple age ranges. The instructions are very clear and thoughtfully laid out, making the build feel much less intimidating. I especially loved that some pages in the manual include fun comic style stories and interesting facts about the physics behind how the mechanics work, it’s a great educational touch! We have absolutely loved this purchase for the value and are excited to finish building it and start using the hand. Highly recommend for families looking for a meaningful STEM project to do together. Age range: 7+

I bought the Thames & Kosmos Mega Cyborg Hand STEM Experiment Kit as a Christmas gift for my 9-year-old son, and it was a huge hit! From the moment he opened it, he was excited to dive into the building process. The instructions were clear and easy for him to follow, and he managed to assemble it mostly on his own, with just a little guidance. Watching him figure out how each piece fit together and seeing his pride in completing it was priceless. The kit provides a fantastic hands-on learning experience, teaching mechanical concepts and the basics of hydraulics in a fun and engaging way. Once assembled, the cyborg hand is incredibly cool. It fits comfortably, works smoothly, and my son has been having a blast testing its capabilities, like picking up objects or pretending he's a robot. The fact that it’s adjustable for different hand sizes means he’ll be able to use it for a long time. This STEM kit is not only entertaining but also educational, sparking curiosity about engineering and science. Excellent kit. It is really a 10+. It took 3-4 hours for a 14 year old and he needed sone help. So, if you are considering this as a gift for younger than 10, I recommend planning for a lot of help in building it. I wish the kit cane with a few spares for the cylinders and the piston seal. However, the manufacturer’s support was commendable. We had to request for 2 replacement parts and we received them in about a week with no additional questions asked. So, I definitely appreciate that. The kit itself is great for younger kids to learn about how hydraulic systems work and a great parent child quality time activity.

This is very difficult to put together. We got this for our son (8) but it took hours to finish. My dad and I had to tag team it. It’s a cool toy, but be prepared to spend hours on this if your child is on the younger side. Also pretty hard to use when it’s finally done. Works but not very fun for small hands that aren’t very strong.

This was awesome!! My kid needed something to keep himself busy this did the job. He’s 6 so did need more help but didn’t mind it. It turned out so great and could use it as a time to teach how hydraulics work. Great quality little large for his age but again. He’s younger than one might get it for. It is very complex and a little harder to screw the screws in but we loved the quality time.

I bought this for my great- grandson’s 11th birthday . HE LOVES IT!

It was pretty intense assembling this hand. Some of the crucial parts slip out of their attachment points making it tough to operate. Plan to spend the better part of the day building it (tool us 4 hours) and requires some help from adults. A part did break on one of the fingers. Wish the had a few extra parts. Otherwise, it’s a cool hand. Maybe build but not use to often.

I think it’s a pretty good value as it kept my 6-year-old occupied for quite a few days to put it together. He got it as a Christmas gift and immediately fell in love with it, even before opening the box. He did need some help here and there but was able to follow the instructions and do most of the assembly himself. There are two things that could be improved in my opinion. First, it leaves a very rough sometimes pointy bump after breaking off the pieces from the frame, so definitely need to be careful when younger kids are playing with it. Second, the screws are a bit tight even for me, so I ended up helping to make sure all the screws went all the way in. But overall this is a pretty cool toy and the most important thing is my son loves playing with it! If I had the choice I would give 4.5 stars.

While the parts in the box is all complete, the box is dented and the seal is broken. Meant to be a gift for a little boy. Lesson learnt to buy toys from physical stores in the future

The product looks amazing with very very detailed instruction inside. However, the box was delivered without wrapping, no Amazon bag, no Amazon box. The box is damaged and does not look like a new one. The shipment sticker was put directly on the box with the product. This is a gift and it took me a while to remove the sticker. Consider another seller of this product.
