I do NOT see any reason it should NOT work with the 3000. NOT tried it BUT used to have a 3000. **Q: can this be used tomake hinge slots in a door. If so what bit would I need?** A: I've used the plunge router to make recesses for door handles on sliding doors and this would work very well for mortising out door hinges. It's all about the depth that you set the plunger at. I did one practice mortise before trying it on my expensive doors and it was really like cutting through butter. Any of the router bits should work. I'm currently using the Dremel 650 1/8 Staight Routing Bit, because that was recommended to me. I'm so pleased with this plunge router attachment. Now I need to find some other projects to work on. **Q: Will it work with other brand rotary tools (specifically Black and Decker)?** A: It will if you cut off the lower section of the plunge attachment that holds the big attachment nut. Then you place the Black & Decker RTX in place and turn the Dremel nut nut upside down. This allows the nut threads to connect to the RTX. The Dremel and the Black & Decker attachment nuts are the same thread. They are just shaped different on the outside. Just take your time, go slow, and you'll be surprised what you can accomplish with this...!!! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A nice little router attachment BUT... *by M***S on June 24, 2021* I bought this for small work. My full sized, 18 pound router was simply too big and heavy for jobs such as inletting the hinges on a small box. The first job I did with this thing was just that... Inletting the hinges on a small box. I'm generally leary of attachments that claim to turn a small power tool into something else, but this worked well. The tool is very light, and the handles are big enough to give good control. My hinges seated the way I wanted them too, and my box closes square. MY ONLY PROBLEM WAS SETTING THE DEPTH OF CUT. I can't really figure out why this thing has to have the "plunge" feature, being so light that you can almost pick it up with your eyelid. The plunge springs take a fair amount of force to press down, and worse, I had to FIGHT them to set my depth of cut. I wound up pressing the base on the edge of my bench with my stomach as I diddled with the depth setting screw and the handle to lock it in place. I finally wrestled it to the point I wanted, and my cuts went in easily and accurately with smooth bottoms. After I was done, I started trying to overcome this adjusting problem. After looking the thing over, I TOOK OUT THE D*M'N PLUNGE SPRINGS. This was easy. Less than a minute's work by simply removing the screw and washer on the top of each post. I was intending to put a 1/2 inch drill bit stop on the non-locking post to stabilize things, but as it turned out, I didn't have to. The depth set very easily this way, and I didn't have to use enough pressure to press things out of line. The lock handle set one side, the adjusting screw held the other. I very easily set the thing for an 1/8 inch cut, and it worked beautifully on pieces of scrap wood. I saved the springs in the box just in case I ever decide to drive myself crazy with them, and as the tool wears a bit, I may need that 1/2 inch drill bit stop on the unlocking post. At this point though, removing the plunge springs turned a weak 4 star tool into a 5 star tool that will get regular use.
