The knockouts need drilled or cut out, which is pretty standard. The installation instructions could be improved, but it's a pretty straight forward install. The plug fit snugly with the female end of the generator cord I purchased separately (4 blade, twist lock type L14-30). The rounded plug cover is made of rubber and is a bit flimsy, not like the other styles that have a hinged metal cover. But it fits ok and should still keep out moisture. I found it easier to install by removing the outer panel and plug, then removing the plug from the outer panel to install the wires.
