## Questions & Answers

**Q: How many inches does this seat add to the height of a standard height toilet?**
A: About 4". Another description: http://www.maddak.com/extra-wide-tallette-elevated-toilet-seat-with-steel-legs-p-27859.html

**Q: What is the weight limit for this item?**
A: I'm not sure what the limit is, but my husband weighs around 300 pounds and it's strong enough to hold him.

**Q: How hard to remove the handles? Does removing affect stability? Confused by conflicting answers given.**
A: Handles are easy to remove. But, they need to be attached to help you on and off toilet. And they do stabilize the seat. I recommend leaving them on. I have had this toilet seat for over two years .

**Q: will this work for someone that weighs 300 lbs? if not what do you suggest i buy. thanks nancy**
A: Hi Nancy! I think this should work fine for a 300-lb. person because it sits right on the toilet itself, so the weight would be absorbed by the structure of the toilet. I have not used it for this size person, but I think it would be supportive. I seem to remember it had a weight limit on the ad for it on the internet, but if not, there is certainly a company you could call to be sure. I was very happy with this toilet seat after my back surgery! I disagree with the person who said it is "tiny;" I thought it was plenty wide! Hope this helps. Ellen

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ STURDY and STRONG. 6'1 220 lb geriatric pt has used daily for 3 years, NO PROBLEMS!
*by U***N on January 8, 2014*

Got this for a tall, overweight geriatric relative who has trouble standing up from low chairs/toilet seats.Had to buy this expensive one because other lighter, cheaper models had slipped off of the toilet bowl. (causing dangerous falls) (don't buy a model that uses a plastic screw to clip to the front of the bowl -- if force is applied laterally or unevenly while standing those models can slide off.)Basically, this thing bolts onto the toilet bowl like a gigantic toilet seat, (they call it "Bolt-Down Lock-In-Ell III" ) using the porcelin bolt-holes the toilet seat cover used to attach through. So unless your toilet bowl comes unbolted from the floor, it isn't going to fall off the toilet.NOTE: I did add a pair of rubber gaskets and steel washers when I installed those bolts, because i didn't think that the included plastic nuts were enough. So budget to maybe spend another $2 at the hardware store. Rock solid ever since.Caveats: One downside of being bolted to the toilet is that it is harder to clean than the other models, But the benefit of greatly improved stability far outweighs that downside.

### ⭐ What a mess, what a mess.
*by S***Y on January 18, 2017*

We found it sturdy, and okay to assemble. However the extra wide in the title of the item is not meant for the opening but for the seating area. The actual opening into the toilet is tiny, and certainly not designed for man to sit on. Plus the item is high, which is good, but makes for a very messy situation, for things that have to go down. We through ours away.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ higher seat, less knee bend
*by E***. on November 6, 2011*

My husband came home from the hospital two days after knee replacement surgery. He was able to walk with a walker, and the pain was tolerable. THEN...he had to go to the bathroom. It hurt him SO BADLY to sit down that it took him 30 minutes to muster the strength to stand up. I immediately ran to my computer and started researching elevated toilet seats. Ray is a large man so he had some specific requests. He wanted something that had side handles and preferred handles that had legs down to the ground. He NEEDED an extra wide space in which to sit. This Tall-Ette seat was just the key. He had installed a 2" taller toilet just 4 months earlier...so, we did have to place some pieces of wood underneath the legs on the floor to ensure stability since they did not quite reach the ground without them. The actual opening could be a little bit larger for him as he still has difficulty urinating with this seat while sitting, but this has been a lifesaver for him. He's now 5 weeks past surgery--but will be having the OTHER knee replaced in another 4 weeks...so, we will be using this seat for another two to three months at least. Finally, I must add that being an Amazon Prime customer is FANTASTIC. I could not find this seat (or anything comparable) in any stores locally, and I only had to pay $3.99 for NEXT DAY shipping with Amazon Prime. I ordered it at 3 pm (pacific time) on Wednesday....and we had it before noon on Thursday. THANK YOU AMAZON!!
