The lights stay on for as long as you have it plugged in and the globe will just levitate in the middle the whole time. My son lost the plastic piece that helps to get it to levitate of course, however you can just use a finger instead. It’s pretty simple to get going and makes an awesome desk decoration. I’d definitely recommend this!!

This was a gift, so I had a chance to check it out,it is a good item the only thing I found out was a little problem was that the light on the arm was a little too dim, otherwise it's a good gift.
