Review: Perfect knee support...until it isn't (contact company if issue)...and a fix for the problem - Where do I begin? Very well constructed. It's made from quality materials and the attention to detail with regard to its features is excellent. It works. My kneecap doesn't shift around when I walk (use it for exercise walks and dog walking)...that occasional "niggle" of pain is gone. It's comfortable. When walking, I forget there's anything there (except for the absence of pain). The Velcro tabs don't stick out and look lumpy under my jeans. This was an unexpected bonus. It's easy to put on...my other adjustable ones always seemed to need more fiddling with to get just right. It doesn't bunch up while I'm walking...like some of the other non-adjustable ones used to do. It fits just right...it doesn't mind that my upper knee area is a bit...ahem...more developed than it should be. Ahhh....the fit....feels good. I'm glad a bought a back-up for when I wash it and it needs to dry before wearing again. I'd hate to have to substitute one of the old ones for those days. UPDATE: Three months later (wearing once a day for a 4 mile walk), the Velcro no longer sticks to the fuzzy fabric. No matter how much I bend my knee before affixing, it pulls apart the minute I start to walk (and, no, I don't walk funny). Why can't this manufacturer use Velcro for both sides of the attachment? Fuzzy stuff just doesn't hold up. [Iron-on Velcro won't hold on the fuzzy and it's too hard for me to get a needle through...I was so hoping I could fix this.] My search continues...I won't bother buying another one of these at this price. UPDATE 2 (same day as update 1): I added in one of the stars I'd deducted. TechWare contacted me without my asking...and offered a replacement for the support I'd just trashed and potentially a replacement for the second support I'd purchased at the same time as that one...which I just started using this morning and so can't evaluate it. Great customer service deserves a star of its own. Thanks, Ted! UPDATE 3: The second one I'd bought is not showing any signs of Velcro inadequacy. I'm thinking I just got a funky one the first time. Thanks, again, Ted!!! UPDATE 4: All of mine started showing signs of weak Velcro....definitely not a heavy duty version of the stuff. BUT If you otherwise like this one as much as I do, get yourself some Handy Bands (Amor Imports) to secure the knee brace straps. They work wonderfully and will extend the life of your knee brace.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How small will this adjust?**
A: Thanks for asking. The determining factor for how small it can be adjusted is actually based on the middle strap - not the two outer straps. There has to be enough velcro to hold the middle strap in place and because of the shape of the middle strap, it can only be pulled so far thru the opening of the two outer straps before it bunches up. So with the most minimal acceptable amount of velcro holding the middle strap closed - and with no bunching - the circumference measured is 12 inches. Keep in mind, this would mean that some of the velcro (hook side) would actually be laying over the exposed knee hole. If no other person would be using the knee support, the extra velcro could be cut off so that it does not cover the knee hole. Also keep in mind that this measurement of 12 inches is not under tension. So if the knee in question is smaller than 12 inches, the knee brace will most likely slide down the leg. As always, if you make the purchase and the knee support doesn't meet your needs, you can simply return it. Hopefully I have explained this well.

**Q: Does this brace prevent lateral patella movement? (like the J braces)**
A: Our TechWare Pro Knee Brace is not specifically a J brace but it has been designed to provide help in stabilizing the patella. What sets our product apart is the bi-directional strap system that provides even support around the patella. With most knee supports all the straps come from one direction causing an uneven pull either to the right or left which is not conducive to stabilizing the patella. With ours we have two straps supporting one direction and another strap comes from the opposite direction. This makes for more uniform compression and tension around the patella and can make a difference in preventing further injury while also helping to minimize knee pain. Also if you compare prices to J braces, we are considerably less. It might be worth trying.

**Q: My knee is 19" but 4" above center knee is 29" what size should I get?**
A: Hi LoveLoveLove!! Thanks for asking because many times the thigh measurement becomes the more critical one over the knee, especially in cases where there is such a significant difference. Our best recommendation is to order the XXL. The strap that goes around the thigh will be tight and it might be too tight for you, in which case, you can simply return it back to Amazon for a refund. The strap that goes around the actual knee might be a bit too long and you will simply need to attach it the other side of the opening - so the knee hole might be covered with neoprene which shouldn't be an issue. There is no problem if you order this and it just doesn't work as Amazon makes returns easy. Hope this helps!

**Q: If it slips down a little while I am working out, did I put it on wrong or do I need a bigger size to make it tighter?**
A: Renee - thanks for asking. There are a few reasons why it can slip a little bit. But first, we would suggest that re-tightening the upper strap and the lower strap. Do them one at a time with the middle strap being attached. Generally it will be one or both of those straps that just need a bit of fine tuning.  Also, if you are doing a lot of deep knee bends or perhaps a spin class - it isn't uncommon for any knee strap to slip a little. As you skin becomes more moist, it should actually stay put better. Another reason it can slip is because we women like to put lotion on our legs! So with any knee strap or sleeve, it is always best to start with a no-lotion, dry leg! A larger size brace won't necessarily stop the slipping unless your measurements are borderline to that next size up. But if your measurements are clearly in the middle of the range, then going up a size isn't going to help.  Because the neoprene material has a stretchy characteristic, this kind of slight slippage is usually just due to either the upper or lower brace not being quite tight enough. I was looking for braces that I didn't have to pull up over my calves/legs because it's a pain when I have pants on. Also for smaller ones than the big black ugly ones that I got from my ortho doctor. These are nice so far, they are easy to fit to your leg, and the straps hold up to motion very well. I put them on and did yard work, which entailed a lot of bending and walking around. They held up fine, no gapping or loosening of the straps, and since they don't cover as much of the leg as the others do, they were really comfortable as far as that goes. They supported my knees perfectly, I didn't have any pain or tired feeling from them. I have arthritis in my knees, no injury or anything like that, so I need just support around the kneecap. These fit the bill very well, and the color is neutral, which is also something I want. I'd recommend these to anyone who wants a decent brace for doing moderate activity. They appear to be very durable, so I'm hoping that I will get plenty of use out of them. Any changes and I will update my review.
