Vitamin D3 is not going to be vegan and is typically produced from a sheep's wool derivative (kind of gross, but still ok to consume and better than a vitamin D deficiency). If you are a looking for a vegan vitamin D supplement you will want to look for one containing only vitamin D-D2, which is produced using yeast and/or mushrooms. It's not as easy for the body to absorb (D3 is the type produced when we are exposed to sunlight, making it the preferred type for the body to absorb) but still better than nothing if you think you have a deficiency.
