The only very minor downside is that you have to chew the tab thoroughly before you start brushing, which takes 10ish seconds. Other positives are 1) the product packaging, which is recyclable or compostable (container is cardboard, bag is compostable corn-based plastic) unlike pretty much every other toothpaste that comes in a non-recyclable plastic tube and 2) Can be carried in an airline carry-on without worrying about the 100ml/3.4oz liquids limit. I put enough tabs for my trip in a small pill bottle. Lastly, if like me you're a craft (snob) coffee drinker and brush your teeth first thing in the morning, the residual watermelon flavor will not mess with the taste of the coffee, unlike mint-flavored toothpastes.
