For Your Sake, Please Consider All Factors in Your Purchase

The seller (Sports By Sager) was fine. The product was a Trikke T78 Air, and new in the box it was missing a small bolt+nut in the right brake lever. So I called Trikke, and they sent, for free, two new brake levers... which to me was a bit overdone when all that was needed was a proper bolt+nut. But regardless, the Trikke company was fine as well. It's more the product itself, and how it is sold. Truly, this is not something for normal, typical people over 30 years old. And that's because it is indeed such a workout to use. If you are only ever going downhill on the thing, obviously it's no problem. If you are on very flat, very smooth ground, it can functionally be used to get some place. But if the road surface is in any way rough, or if there is even the slightest uphill grade, the head-to-toe soaking perspiration will begin. Even the manual itself says that grades are difficult... and that's the company's own manual. Truly, if you are not closer to 20 years old than 30, grades make this a literal no-go. For those of you who say, "I'll just kick-push it up grades with one foot while keeping my other foot on it", please accept this warning: because you have to step down almost 10 inches to the ground to push it with one foot, it can easily over-stress your Achilles tendon area as it did for me, giving me Achilles tendonitis (a painful thing) for a couple of months until it healed. (For what it's worth, I'm 54 and healthy both weight-wise and condition-wise, so it's not like my Achilles were just waiting to break. In fact, to my memory, no other exercise activity in my life ever gave me Achilles tendonitis.) Also, the way it's sold... yes, I went to the Trikke website; I saw some YouTube videos; etc. It's quite a sales pitch - California-this-and-that; plastic families with blank smiles seemingly enjoying themselves; 20 year old youths on the streets and in the skate parks making it look as though their Trikke is just another limb; and sadly, little-dressed harlotry sprinkled throughout, as though form-fit outfits, skin, and cleavage are necessities for women on a Trikke instead of a detriment to all humans everywhere. But almost nowhere in the entire sales pitch is there any emphasis on what even the Trikke manual says itself... that any kind of uphill grade (or rougher surface for that matter) makes Trikking, at least with a Trikke that has air tires, a physically difficult matter for typical human beings. In conclusion, I can tell you that I got rid of the Trikke, and in its place - since I really just wanted something for "commuting" up to about 2 miles on not-perfectly-smooth roads, with some grades, and in about half the time as walking - I instead got a Razor L5 Lux kick scooter. The Razor is inexpensive, it's solid, it works very well (about the same speed as Trikking with much less effort), it's much more portable, and moreover, it's fun. It's truly a functional, good little commuting device. And, no Achilles tendonitis ! I hope this helps you make your Trikke decision. Thanks.

    Super awesome workout!

My husband loves his Trikke! It is super snazzy looking and just about the most bizarre thing I've ever seen. It came well packaged with good instructions. They included links to several videos which make using this look fun and easy, but the Trikke is not an easy thing to learn how to maneuver. But, if you persist, eventually you will figure out the correct way to stand, the motions to make, etc. And, if you want to be noticed - this is just the thing! Hubby says people stop him all the time to find out what the heck this thing is. There were some business cards in the box - now we know why!If you are looking for a super good workout - consider getting yourself a Trikke. It does need more space then that width of a typical sidewalk, so make sure there are some nice, smooth paths near you. Luckily, it collapses easily to transport in your car.

Great Idea but where is the quality control in assembly!

*by T***N on Reviewed in the United States on 11 July 2013*

I have owned my Trikke for about three weeks. The workout is awesome. I average about 4 to 6 miles when I am carving. You will trim down, tone up and increase your endurance. I still recommend this machine. Your body is the motor. the only failure was while carving the steering column adjustment tab simply fell to the bottom of the steering column. I was in the middle of some serious carving when it happen. I call the seller on Monday and they contacted the manufacturer the same day and they overnighted the adjustment tab to me. I wasn't too please with having to perform the warranty labor repair myself but I did. When I followed the instructions on taking the steering column apart. I found the bottom retainer plug at the bottom of the steering column as well. I had to use a coat hanger to get the retainer plug from the bottom of the steering column. This Trikke was assembled without quality control. The retainer plug once installed is very difficult to remove. Who ever assembled my Trikke didn't pay attention to detail. It kind of makes me wonder about the complete assembly of the Trikke. If you are thinking about buying one, I still recommend it. You will have a blast and improve your fitness and health at the same time. Trikke on!
