Review: Good stand for this price point. Nice for the DIYer. - I was looking for a new tool stand recent. I used to buy Craftsman tool stands for my bench top tools but they aren't available anymore. This Powertec stand appears to be identical except the hardware is now metric hex bolts instead of SAE button head phillips bolts and they added metric measurement to the table top. If you look at the picture, even the warning markings are the same. The supplied wood - I've mounted a miter saw, router, band saw and a 100lb drill press to these MDF tops without issues. Mine look a little darker in the picture because I usually put a couple of coats of clear poly on them because MDF doesn't do well if they absorb liquids. If you’re mounting something in the middle of the board instead of near the edges you’d probably want to use plywood instead. Should they supply plywood instead? That's more cost passed on to the consumers plus plywood tends to have a lot of voids in the layers that show on the edging unless you add edging. The shelf is thin. I mainly use it to storage light weight attachments like router bits, saw fence attachments, etc. Yes the two piece shelf will bow in the middle under any kind of significant weight but it would make assembly much more challenging if it was a single piece of wood. The hardware – I didn’t have any issues with the count, breaking, etc. except one phillips screw for the table top had a bit of scrap metal suck in the cross. I was able to pry it out with a pick and the screw worked just fine. It’s easy to strip out the MDI with wood screws so I always tighten them by hand, no power tools unless they on the lowest torque settings. The bolts are marked as grade 4.8 so use them/torque them with that in mind. I don't see a strength issue for my application of supporting a bench belt sander. The metal legs and brackets – I measured the thickness to be about .051”. That’s with paint. It’s rigid enough as a stationary stand. 500lbs would really seem to be pushing it though. I’d be hesitant to add casters directly to the legs. The “feet” are only plastic which will eventually crack but adding casters will add more stress on the legs as they will want to spread out on their own due to the trapezoidal design of the legs. Think of standing with your feet apart wearing sneakers verses putting bunch of marbles under those sneakers. Get casters that either sit on a plate or are locked to each other if you go that route. This is a good tool stand at this price point. I couldn't find anything else available that is comparable except for the tool stand from the discount tool supplier. That one doesn't provide any kind of top or shelf. I'm satisfied with this stand for my usage (DIYer bench top power tools).
Review: Good piece of kit. - I bought several of these. One for the power miter saw, one for the jig saw, and one for the bandsaw. They are sturdy, easy to assemble and the top is good quality. The size is perfect too.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How big of a drill press will this hold?**
A: From a safety stand point it should not be taller that 6 foot total stand and drill press height. Gets to be a tip over hazard if it is.

**Q: I ordered this and I would like some suggestions on hardware, what size hex head bolts/nuts. I'm going with 3/4 plywood on top, thanks.**
A: I countersunk relatively small Phillips head nuts and bolts that I had around the house to make the surface flat. No need to tie it down with hex head bolts since all you want to do is stop it from slipping. The weight of whatever you put on top will hold it down.

**Q: Where do we install the spare washer on the sliding table top?**
A: I do not understand what you mean by sliding table top. My is secured.

**Q: Can i use this as a anvil stand?**
A: The 500lb load version might work for you, but the non adjustable height might be an issue depending on how tall your anvil is. It's 32" tall as it is, so if your anvil is a 10-12" tall, that height would make hammering uncomfortable. If your a 6'10 It would be the perfect height, for everyone else, not so great.
I have a similar stand for my 118lb custom H beam, but it's height adjustable and has a 4x4 end grain cut wood base and 2" of rubber under the wood layer to dull hammer feedback.

For what they charge for a anvil stand, you can make something better for half the cost, or just find a good tree stump.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent product for the price.
*by G***S on May 21, 2026*

Excellent product however middle shelf is flimsy. Assembly is a small challenge. DO NOT tighten the bolts just like it says. Assembly loosely, put it on the top upside down and secure the top. Tighten everything and install center shelf. I put a bench top jointer on mine and it holds it just fine. Will make a new center shelf out of 1/2" plywood and discard the 2 pieces of the shelf. The two pieces of the top when pushed all the way together are very sturdy. Just finished putting together one that was twice as expensive, twice as hard to assemble and half as good a product.
