They’re lightweight, easy to rinse before use, and spread evenly across the bottom of a tank. They also work well with a mesh layer on top to keep soil from mixing in, and I’ve noticed the difference in keeping the enclosure cleaner and healthier for my reptiles. The 2.5 lb bag doesn’t go super far if you have a large tank, but for smaller terrariums or as a starter it works well.
