There is only a 20mm gap between the plasterboard ceiling that runs between the beams and the underside of the floorboards above....so this system was a perfect way to get decent crisp light in the room. The lighting system is well designed in the most, however the spot lamp fitting (where the screw pierces the cable) is a little fiddly due to the size of cable used in the kit. The spots can clip onto either a 4mm or 2.5mm suspension cable which is the issue - the pin tends to go either one side or the other of the kits 2.5mm cable as opposed to into the centre. That said there is a knack to hitting the cable everytime when screwing in the bolt. The light fittings are very lightweight and rather delicate, so check when the kit arrives as three of mine were broken in the box during transit.
