## Description

Introducing the world’s widest full-frame constant F2.8 lens at 12-24mm. Spectacular G Master resolution and drastically reduced chromatic aberration is realized from 3x Extreme Aspheric, 1x Aspheric, 2x Super ED (Extra-low dispersion) and 3x ED elements. Nano AR coating II suppresses reflections, flare and ghosting while the constant F2.8 and 9-blade circular aperture delivers on beautiful bokeh. Fast, precise autofocus tracking comes from 4x XD (Extreme Dynamic) linear motors.

Review: Fantastic correction and resolution - Did a lot of research before taking the plunge on this expensive lens and was a little skeptical of the hyperbole, especially since I don't use zoom lenses for commercial work. Then, when I took it out for the first weekend of shooting and immediately understood why people were gushing about its capabilities. I needed a better super-wide match to the Zeiss primes I've been shooting for decades, and this is it. The micro-contrast is great, CA is minimal to non-existent, lines are beautifully straight (requiring almost no correction in Lightroom) and the colors are brilliant. If there were an Otus 18 or 20mm lens, it would look like this. Portraiture at the longer focal lengths is fantastic in the central two-thirds, and only lightly distorted in the outer third (but still pleasing), and skin tones look very good. I can't speak to image stabilization or autofocus — I don't use either. The only drawback may be the price, but in this case, you're getting exactly what you'd expect you are paying for. Very, very impressed.
Review: Packaging needs work - Lens is fine, but shipping this with one 10 inch piece of bubble wrap is crazy work.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Would this lens work well for portraits? or is this more inclined for landscape? I am debating between this lens or the new 24-105mm G.**
A: This f2.8 is excellent for real estate, gimbal and group horizon shots. This is a great choice as a second lens to carry. However start with a lens like the 24-105 for portrait and subjects you need to reach from 15 yards.

**Q: As a landscape photographer who usually shoots in f/11-f/22, is this sony 24-70 f2.8 lens really much better than the zeiss 24-70 f4 ?**
A: no. at those apertures the difference will be minimal. if you pixel peep you may notice better detail and less distortion in the corners, but that's about it, but not enough to make or break the photo. or justify the price. the G master is also MASSIVE. mounting it on an A7R II will make your set up just as big and heavy as a Canon 5DM4 + 24-70 f/2.8 IIthe only reason i would carry a G Master is if would shoot at 2.8

**Q: Will it work with A6000?**
A: While it is true this is a full frame lens that in no way means it would not be a great lens on the a6000. The most important feature of this lens is the 2.8 aperture and that does not change on a crop sensor camera like yours! The larger aperture will still would allow it to focus faster and perform better in low light situations as well as allow for better bokah. Glass is more important than the body. The a6000 has a great sensor and image quality to start with and the lens would be awesome on it. The only "issue" is its not as wide as it would be on an A7 so think of its field of view as being a 36-105 instead of a 24-70. Not quite as good for landscape. Good glass will stay with your as you upgrade your bodies so the investment is totally worth it as long as you stay within the E-Mount system

**Q: Is there a fish eye effect around the edges at 16mm? I am also looking at Zeiss Batis 18mm which is wide and has little fish eye effect.**
A: At 16mm there is no fisheye, I sometimes shoot group photos at 16mm. But at 35mm it’s a wide angle shot which has the fish eye look. This lens is an amazing lens with lots of versatility.
