Rinse Aid, 16 oz

Like others perhaps, I've always had a hazy understanding of what a "rinse aid" is or does. It is not very helpful that, on most dishwashers, the compartment dedicated to being filled with "rinse aid" is very suspicious: it is not clear that it is water-tight, it seems like you fill it up and the "rinse aid" leaks out; and depending on models it is not always clear when the "rinse aid" tank is filled or not. Here are the issues what using the "rinse aid" as indicated helped me avoid (ranked by level of annoyance): 1) Generally not shiny silverware. 2) White mineral spots on silverware and dishes. 3) The feeling that silverware is covered in dust or residue. 4) Enormous puddles of water on just about every plastic surface in the dishwasher. Indeed, I found out the "rinse aid" (I have been using quotes because I think it is a poor choice of name, it is a "drying agent") helps with all those problems, even surprisingly the issue of water puddles, because it essentially disperses the factor by preventing it from coalescing into big drops. Finally, why pick this brand over others? Well it does everything it is supposed (so I don't see how any other agent would be usefully "more powerful"), and it does so with only four ingredients that most people know well: water, citric acid (lemon), denaturated alcohol, butyl glucoside — the last one is a surfactant that the Environmental Working Group (EWG) has categorized as "low concern" (go on their website to see the nicely organized list of evidence they use to support this claim).

Worked great. Just hate having to order it online all the time. We usually end up just picking up the icky chemical filled stuff at the grocery store.

I really like this rinse aid. However, shipper VitaminLife.com had made no effort to keep it from opening in transit, not even a piece of tape over the cap, so when received it was leaking in the package.

We’ve been using this rinse aid for several months now. It seems to work well - dishes come out clean and it really helps with drying. We appreciate that the ingredients seem safer and that there doesn’t appear to be a surfactant film residue that we get when we’ve used other rinse aids. The residue from another name brand rinse aid we’ve used that starts with an “f” is bad enough that we took to having to rinse out our dishes after the dishwasher before using them - they may look pretty when “dry”, but who likes to drink soapy surfactant? Probably not so good to be ingesting. By comparison, this ecover rinse aid works great. We also really like the design of the lid. While other rinse aids we’ve used seem inherently designed to waste by making it almost impossible to add rinse aid to the dishwasher without spilling, this brand uses an ingenious lid with a sort of funnel/collar that allows you to slowly add rinse aid without spilling a drop. This product may be a little more expensive, but for us is worth it because of the bottle design that results in less waste, the ingredients we feel better about, and not having to waste time and water rinsing our dishes off before using them.

I find that it helps with smells in the dishwasher. I use this with unscented dishwashing pods and there's no smell after each wash.

I like using a dishwasher rinse product without phosphates. I can't always find the dishwasher rinse in stores. Happy to find it on Amazon and with my second purchase, very pleased with results. I recommend this product.

Works fine, but what I really love is their dishwasher detergent.

I’m pleased with cleaned dishes using this Rinse aid and it’s environmentally albeit mire expensive than commercial brands. Why is the price higher for healthier food and cleaning substances?
